Would you dial 911 in Jamaica?

Actually don’t bother. The number for emergencies in Jamaica is 119.

Did you know that only a few countries have 911 as their national number for emergencies? They are Figi, Canada, US, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Guyana, Uruguay, and Paraguay to be precise. Most other countries also have a 3 digit code but the number varies.

I can only imagine that at one point someone thought of a world-wide emergency number but chances are they couldn’t agree on what the number would be. At least someone at the cell phone companies thought of this. The telephone number 112 is the international emergency telephone number for GSM mobile phone networks.
